- PLEASE NOTE THIS ANNOUNCEMENT SUPERSEDES THE PREVIOUS PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE. The United States Geological Survey, Office of the Pacific Southwest Regional Executive, Multi-Hazards Demonstration Project intends to make a non-competitive award to Denton Design Associates of Pasadena, California. The period of performance is requested from date of award through October 15, 2008. The requirement of services is for a business supplement to the document Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country and update of six (6) pages of the 2004 version of Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country. Denton Design Associates has been the graphics designer for all versions of Putting Down Roots in Earthquake Country since its inception in 1994. This document explains the most up-to-date science about the earthquake risk in that region and thus fills the USGS goal to communicate its scientific results to support earthquake loss reduction. The contractor's unique capabilities include their experience in communicating earthquake information to the general public. Any other contractor would cost the government additional time just in learning the layout and features of this publication. In addition, these documents are subject to copyright owned by the Southern California Earthquake Center (SCEC) and authorized by SCEC to Denton Design Associates. These documents are not the sole property of the US Geological Survey. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) and the procedures of FAR Part 12, entitled, "Acquisition of Commercial Items." In accordance with FAR 5.207(c)(13)(i), other responsible sources that believe they can meet the requirement described above may submit a capability statement or quotation no later than the closing date of this announcement which will be considered by the USGS. All responses must be in writing, by e-mail to the Contracting Officer at sklingler@usgs.gov. This notice and any resulting solicitation or contract conforms to the requirements in place through FAC 2005-26, effective 12 June 2008. NAICS: 541430 - Graphic Design Services
