Description
The purpose of this modification is to answer technical questions and extend the bid opening date. The bid opening date is extended to 9/5/08 at 1:30 pm. 1. What CFM @ PSI ? A)Per M-1 Dwg., the air compressor capacity range (since it has a variable speed drive) is 41-88 cfm at 65-160 psi. 2. What is the max receiver PSI you are looking for ? A)Maximum receiver psi should be 160 psi. 3. Since this is a replacement for the existing, how long can the system be down? A)The current compressed air system cannot tolerate any downtime because it supplies air to the existing HVAC system. A temporary air compressor need to be used while the work is being done. 4. The voltage spelled out in the specs is 230/3/60, yet the panels are marked 208/3/60. For VFD drive this can be a big difference for the drive. Can someone verify voltage? A)The manufacturer's spec sheet shows 230v/3-ph/60H for the compressor power needs. A new electrical Panel will then need to be providedif the existing electrical panel is rated at 208/3/60. 5. The room was rather warm, has anyone given any consideration to the ventalation in the room? We estimated the room temperature at 82 degrees F. A)Proper ventilation for the room is not being addressed in this project. It may have to be analyzed and dealt with in another new project since there are also other heat producing HVAC equipment in the room. 6. Since the specified compressor is a total air system (TAS) are we replacing the dryer located on the wall and marked as the PRV station? Can the system be made of individual components? This makes maintenance and future replacement work easier. A)The new compressor system is a TAS (total air system) and the equipment description shown on the M-1 dwg shows it to have its own refrigerated dryer, 120 gal. air receiver and etc. The existing filters & air receiver tank near the existing PRV station can be bypassed. 7. The TAS also has filtration, will that replace the filters near the PRV station? A)See 6. 8. Will we need a temporary compressor to supply building air? A)See 3. 9. The dew point monitor is not well versed. Is this a digital readout, or just color change beads similar to those found on desiccant dryers? There is a big difference in cost. A)Dew point monitor should be the digital readout type. 10. The large 2 copper line was closed off. All of the air was directed thru a smaller 3/4 line. That line fed the filters and dryer. Due to the ambient conditions of the room, the dryer may need to be sized larger than the stated flow. Has any consideration been given to this? Has anyone complained of wet air or moisture in the building? A)Use the 3/4 inch air line (instead of the closed-off 2inch line)since it is used by the current old air compressor. 11. Please verify the voltage required for the air compressor is 460v. The current unit is 208v and if 460v is required for the new unit, a step-up transformer will be required. A)See 4. 12. Are you requesting the contractor to re-pipe the new unit or use the existing piping? A) See 10. 13. It is somewhat unclear if you want a new receiver and dryer or if you want us to use the existing equipment? A) See 6. 14. Is the proposal due date 8/15/08? A) Bids are due 9/5 at 1:30 pm. 15. What amount or percentage should the bid bond be for and do we have to mail this in separately? A) Bid Bond is 20% of Bid amount and must be sent in with Bid.
