Synopsis: Combined Solicitation Solicitation Number: 188594 Posted Date: August 12, 2008 Response Date: August 29, 2008 Set Aside: Total Small Business NAICS: 423740 Department of Agriculture, forest Service, R-5 Sierra Cascade Acquisition Group, Attn: Deb Hinricks 2550 Riverside Dr. Susanville, CA 96130 This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) 12.6. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation No: 188594 is issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ) using the policies prescribed in FAR Part 12. This solicitation is for a refrigerated walk in seedling cooler to be delivered and or erected on the government provided concrete foundation. Location: The cooler is to be located at the Mt. Hough Ranger District Office 39796 Highway 70, Quincy CA 95971. The office is located three miles north of Quincy, elevation 3200’ and receives considerable amounts of snow in the winter. The concrete pad foundation will be government provided. Cooler delivery shall be coordinated with Andrea Seiler, Facility Engineer. Her phone number is (530) 283-7872 the foundation is scheduled for completion by September 1, 2008. The walk in refrigerated area will be used to store boxes and bags of conifer seedlings that will be placed on metal racks with wheels. The useable area shall be kept at 33-34 degrees Fahrenheit yr round, with refrigeration activation when the air temperature hits 36 degrees F. Refrigerated Box Specifications: Box shall be approximately (outside dimension) 30” (length across the front) by approximately 22’ (deep) x 8’6” tall with an insulated floor, that will fit on our 32’ x 22’ government provided raised wooden or concrete foundation. Condenser and compressor units shall be identified and included in the specifications. The compressor will sit on the government supplied slab at ground level. Specify the R value of the walls and the thickness of the skin on the floor and walls. Quote the box with minimum 1:5 (1” vertical: 5’ horizontal) roof to shed water. However also provide a refrigerated box quote with a waterproof membrane without a roof. A minimum 4’ locking door shall be located near the center of the length in front. The insulated floor shall be able to withstand 4 rolling racks of approximately 350 pounds. The floor thickness shall be specified as the loading dock will be constructed by the government to the same height. The Box shall be able to withstand the local snow load conditions for Quincy CA. The box shall be bid with 3 phase 240 ac. Power, with 110 to -20 degree outdoor ambient kit to included pump down cycle kit, crankcase heater, and condenser fan cycle control with all weather housing. Shall include an adjustable defrost clock. The compressor shall come with a minimum 5 year warranty; the System shall have a 5- year parts warranty with one year labor guarantee. The box shall be equipped with an outside bell alarm that can be set at an inside air temperature. Exterior and interior color shall be specified, white or aluminum is acceptable. The cooling coils shall be electrically defrosted. Installation shall be completed before October 15, 2008 The Forest Service will run the electricity to the site and hook up the electricity. Fully loaded the contents of the cooler will weigh an estimated 125, 000 lbs., plus the weight of the cooler and compressor estimated to be an additional 15,000 lbs. Interior and external wall mounted thermometers are required.
