- The VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (NIHCS) intends to solicit and award a contract for the disposal of general solid waste and infectious waste for the campuses located at 2121 Lake Avenue Fort Wayne, Indiana and 1700 E. 38th Street, Marion, Indiana. Contract will be for a base year (October 1, 2008, through September 30, 2009) and one 1-year renewal option. The Option Year will be evaluated for award purposes but will not be exercised at the time of contract award. The option year may be exercised at the discretion of the Government. Contractor shall furnish all containers for the collection of the waste, and shall furnish all labor, material, and equipment necessary to provide collection, removal, transportation, and disposal of the waste. Contractor shall provide the following: Fort Wayne -two 10-cu yd containers for solid waste, daily pick-up (Monday through Friday); appropriate containers for infectious waste which shall be picked up weekly. Marion - Solid waste - nine 4-cu yd containers (weekly pick up), 29 90-gal totes with wheels and lids (weekly pick up), one 21-cu yd roll off compactor (twice weekly pick up), and one 30 cu yd roll off container (est. 17 pick ups); appropriate containers for infectious waste which shall be picked up weekly. The VA reserves the right to award one all-inclusive contract or multiple contracts whichever is more advantageous to the Government in accordance with FAR 52.214-22. The contractor shall comply with all current county or municipal, state, and federal laws, regulations and guidelines when collecting, storing, removing, transporting, disposing of and/or recycling all wastes. NAICS for this requirement is 562111 with a size standard of $11.5 million. The solicitation will be available on or about August 28, 2008.
