Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) is planning an approximate $4 million sole-source modification to existing contract N61339-06-C-0135, with SimTech Services Corporation for the software upgrade from software configuration set (SCS) 17C to 21X on the US Navy F/A-18 C/D Simulated Aircraft Maintenance Trainers (SAMTs). Other minor software upgrades will be included in this effort. This US Navy effort is being combined with the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 C/D SAMT software upgrade effort that includes upgrading SCS 19C to SCS 21X. Contract award is anticipated in January 2009 with a twenty-four month delivery schedule. This modification is being executed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. A substantial duplication of costs to the Government is not expected to be recovered through competition. SimTech Services Corporation recently completed the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 C/D SAMT software upgrade from SCS 17C to SCS 19C and will be conducting the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 C/D SAMT SCS 19C to 21X. The F/A-18 C/D SAMT provides realistic, full spectrum maintenance training for electrical/flight control, avionics, armament, and fuel related task areas. Realistic maintenance training includes the capability to train in operational maintenance situations and allows the maintenance technicians to train in an Organizational Level (O Level) maintenance environment.
