Description
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) seeks capability statements from qualified small businesses (e.g., 8(a), veteran-owned small businesses, services-disabled veteran owned small businesses, HUB Zone small businesses, small disadvantaged businesses, or women-owned small businesses) having the capabilities to produce and distribute two publications: NIDA Notes, a 16-20 page newsletter describing current scientific research in the field of drug abuse and addiction, to appear bimonthly with one annual special issue (total 7 issues/year); The main tasks involved in producing the newsletter includes: identify NIDA activities and NIDA-funded research that are appropriate for coverage in the newsletter; pitch article topics to Editorial Board and Review Panel; interview researchers and research, write, edit, copyedit, and proof read articles that are interesting to researchers and understandable to a broad audience; locate and generate graphics to accompany text; provide layout services; format issues for the printer, subcontract printing and conduct press checks; maintain multiple subscription lists (postal, electronic, and both) and oversee fulfillment; work with the NIDA webmaster to format issues for the internet and post them in html and pdf formats; generate and maintain issue production schedules and provide weekly status reports; plan and execute readership and circulation outreach initiatives. Addiction Science & Clinical Practice, a 48-64 page peer-reviewed journal featuring review articles on drug abuse and addiction, to appear twice annually. The main tasks involved in producing the journal include: manage manuscript traffic and correspondence with article submitters, researcher and clinician authors, and the Editorial Board; recruit peer reviewers and coordinate a peer review process; recruit scientists and clinicians to discuss articles, arrange Editor-panel discussant conference calls, and provide transcripts; edit, copyedit and proof read articles; locate and generate graphics for articles and special features; provide layout services; maintain production schedules; format issues for the printer, subcontract printing and conduct press checks; maintain multiple subscription lists (postal, electronic, and both) and oversee fulfillment; work with the NIDA webmaster to format issues for the internet and post them in html and pdf formats; submit appropriate data to the National Library of Medicine to place issue contents in the Medline database; manage an annual meeting of the Editorial Board, including Board members' travel and lodging; generate and maintain issue production schedules and provide weekly status reports; plan and execute readership and circulation outreach initiatives. Interested organizations must demonstrate and document, in any capability statements submitted, extensive experience with and the ability to provide the above equipment within specification. Documentation may include, but not be limited to, contracts both Government and commercial the organization performed, references, i.e., names, titles, telephone numbers and any other information serving to document the organizations capability, e.g., awards, and commendations.
