Description
The Olympic National Forest intends to acquire the construction of a new trail bridge (foot log). Work shall include: removing the existing trail bridge (foot log); hand excavation; backfill; approach trail construction (trail adjustment); falling a large tree and small trees in the vicinity without motorized equipment (i.e.: use hand crosscut saw) for use in the construction of a new (approximately 68 feet long, 60 foot span) foot log trail bridge with hand rails. The contractor shall furnish and install all required hardware and other specified materials to construct the bridge. Motorized equipment and helicopter use is not permitted. Blasting is not permitted in the execution of this project. Project completion date is SEPT. 30, 2009. This project is located on the Hood Canal Ranger District of the Olympic National Forest in Mason County. The project can be accessed by driving east on State Hwy. 101 from Sequim, Washington. The project is located on the Upper Dungeness Trail #833 at M.P. 2.5 in the Buckhorn Wilderness. Accurate trail maps are available at Olympic National Forest information desks. This solicitation will be issued under FAR Part 12 for a commercial service (minor construction). Payment protection is required. Davis Bacon wage rates apply. Solicitation will be issued on, or about, JULY 24, 2008. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which will be considered by the government. Contract award will be to the offeror whose offer, conforming to the solicitation, is the best value to the government. The government estimated value is between $25,000 and $50,000. In accordance with FAR 4.1102(a), prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database prior to award of a contract. Lack of registration in the CCR on the part of the offeror will render an offeror ineligible for award.
