- Sources Sought RFI VA-263-08-RI-0343 Pre-Analytic Robotic Specimen Processing Unit The Minneapolis VA Medical Center is seeking potential sources for a Pre-Analytic Robotic Specimen Processing Unit for Laboratory Services. The system shall serve as a stand-alone pre/post-clinical specimen-processing platform. The instrument shall address the needs of large hospital laboratories with specimen throughput capacity of 300-800 specimens per hour, with processing requirements such as; centrifugation, decapping and/or sorting. Equipment must provide dual Cartesian specimen handlers which operate cooperatively, moving specimens between input drawers, centrifuge, decapper and output drawers within the instrument workspace. Equipment must be compact with efficient footprint utilization. Must operate in stand-alone mode, to provide full instrument functionality (at reduced throughput) in case of a failure affecting one of the handlers. Input and Output drawers shall be configurable to permit use of most popular instrument racks. Centrifugation must have capacity for 80 tubes per cycle. Specimen handling components shall be equipped with a servo-driven specimen gripper with attached barcode reader, and capable of traversing the entire processing area. Equipment shall be free-standing requiring no compressed air and minimal floor space. Dimensions: Equipment shall fit into a space, 7ft.(h) x 7.5ft(w) x3.5ft(d). This is a sources sought synopsis only RFI VA-263-08-RI-0343. The purpose of this synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources. Responses to this synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Responses to this synopsis should include company name, a service capability statement, three customer references to which you have provided similar services to, copies of applicable licensing, product catalog, address, point of contact, and DUNS number. Responses to this sources sought synopsis are not considered adequate responses to any future solicitation announcements.
