Description
The Defense Supply Center, Philadelphia, 700 Robbins Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19111, intends to procure on a sole source basis with Invivo Corporation to provide 1 SMS Sym 1.5T 7Ch Biopsy Breast Array for Fort Hood, TX configured as follows: SMS SMS 1.5T 4Ch Breast Array, part number 800162, quantity 1 It has been determined that Invivo Corporation is the best manufacturer capable of meeting this requirement for the SMS System 1.5T 7Ch Biopsy Breast Array. Fort Hood is obtaining this array for use with an existing Siemens Symphony 1.5T MRI machine. Compatibility is a key issue when purchasing coils for RF imaging. This coil has a certificate of compatibility for use with the Siemens Symphony MRI system. Fort Hood has also purchased a DynaCAD workstation that aids with breast imaging analysis. The DynaCAD system cannot be utilized without a breast biopsy coil. The coil was specifically designed to be compatible with 8-channel MRI systems and for use with iPAT imaging techniques. This allows for improved aperture volume and a high Signal to Noise Ration (SNR). The coil also allows for unilateral and bilateral imaging modes as well as medial and lateral breast access. The key feature of this unit is the fully integrated biopsy/immobilization device. Other coils, such as the CP Breast Array Coil, require a separate purchase of the breast biopsy array. The coil design also allows for use of other interventional procedures using true cut and vacuum assist instruments with both medical and lateral access. The Statuatory authority for this sole source purchase is Title 10 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1) as implemented in the FAR 6.302-1(a) (2). This notice is for informational purposes only; NO FORMAL SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED as a result of this announcement. Interested parties may identify their interest to the address listed below, no later than August 13, 2008 at 3:00PM EST. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract is entirely in the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received by August 13, 2008 at 3:00PM EST, a sole source contract with Invivo Corporation will be pursued. The POC for this notice is Jackie Hartzell at (215) 737-7944, FAX (215) 737-8002, email: Jaclyn.Hartzell@dla.mil.
