- *******************************Only contact Joe McCollister/PS22 regarding thissynopsis at Joseph.m.mccollister@nasa.gov or via fax at256-961-4753********************************************NASA/MSFC has a requirement for replacement components, consumables and projectiles forthe Micro Light Gas Gun. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Hayden Precision Finishing on a sole sourcebasis for the following reason:These machined parts are required for continued operation of the Impact TestingFacilitys micro-light gas gun in support of ongoing test efforts. Detailed precisiondrawings of the machined parts are not currently available, and the timeline does notsupport creation of drawings prior to this procurement. Because of their past experiencewith these parts, their proprietary process, and the precision they can provide for themicro-light gas gun system, Hayden Precision Finishing does not require drawings in orderto fulfill this procurement. Thus, they will be able to machine the parts within therequired timeframe to support the ongoing testing without significant scheduleinterruption of operations of the micro-light gas gun.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to Joe McCollister/PS22 regarding this synopsis atJoseph.m.mccollister@nasa.gov or via fax at 256-961-4753 no later than 12 p.m. CST on08/18/2008. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose ofdetermining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.Adetermination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
