- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the purchase of a COMSOL Multiphysics for allPlatforms with a floating Network License and additional Computer-Aided Design (CAD)Import Module, Structural Mechanics Module, Heat Transfer Module and a Materials Libraryincluding maintenance and upgrades for 12 months.1.COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, Floating Network License for one (1)concurrent user.2.CAD Import Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, FloatingNetwork License for one (1) concurrent user.3.Heat Transfer Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, FloatingNetwork License for one (1) concurrent user.4.Material Library for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms, FloatingNetwork License for one (1) concurrent user.5.Structural Mechanics Module for use with COMSOL Multiphysics for All Platforms,Floating Network License for one (1) concurrent user.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from COMSOL Inc. because COMSOL has the abilityto enter geometric elements into Finite Element Analysis(FEA) software via a GraphicalUser Interface (GUI) and/or to transfer complete geometries into FEA software from CADsoftware and to have computational results displayed as color contours superimposed onthe imput geometry.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.The synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will theGovernment pay for the information solicited.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. easternlocal time on August 17, 2008.Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solelyfor the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice.All contractual and technical questions must be submitted in writing via e-mail toJanicea.L.McCree@nasa.gov no later than August 13, 2008 or via facsimile at 301-286-9159.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
