Description
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) intends to negotiate a sole source, firm-fixed price contract with Keyence Corporation of America, 50 Tice Blvd., Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07677, under RFQ E006517. This notice will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) web site www.fedbizopps.gov. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the FBO site to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. Keyence Corporation of America is to provide the FBI with Laser Scanning Microscopes (LSM). Based on extensive research conducted with knowledgeable individuals in Government and the related industry, Keyence Corporation has been deemed the only one responsible source with their VK9700 LSM that can provide the requested specifications that are necessary for the FBI's mission requirements. This model is not integrated into a standard materials science microscope body which limits the travel of the specimen under examination. The ability to mount the microscope head on the custom XY stage and moving it to other interests is essential. Additionally, Keyence software allows for use on any personal computer, and not having to be dedicated to one particular computer usage. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement or submit quotes to this office by 2:00 PM EST, August 13, 2008 via facsimile at 703-632-6103 or via mail at the attention of Amy Lacy, FBI Engineering Research Facility, Room A-226, Quantico, VA 22135. E-mail quotes will also be accepted at aelacy@fbiacademy.edu. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The North American Industrial Classification System number is 333314-Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing. This contract will be awarded as a commercial item in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation, Parts 12 and 13. All Contractors anticipating award, must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration Database.
