- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with MKS Instruments, Wilmington, MA under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Soliciting From a Single Source, for a spinning rotor gauge system to be used for calibration services. This item is required to be used to control NIST and customer spinning rotor gauges, which are essential to maintain NIST calibration services 30029C, 30030C, and 30031C. This item is required to be one hundred (100) percent compatible with existing NIST gauges and any gauges necessary for customer calibrations. Based on Market Research NIST has not identified any other sources that can provide the required equipment. If NIST identifies no other capable sources by August 18th, 2008, NIST will issue a Firm-Fixed Price Purchase Order to MKS Instruments. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement in writing no later than August 18, 2008. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ).
