Description
Add the following to the requirement of the contract. The workshop will have registration fees which would offset the cost to the government. The anticipated revenue from registration fees, corporate sponsorship and grants should be included with the offer. The FDA is looking to collaborate with an organization that has a history of convening scientific conferences to bring together leading scientist from academia and industry, as well as junior investigators, engineers, physicians, executives, policy makers, educators, media and government officials in an impartial environment creating an open forum for discussion of current research and its applications and implications. The following should appear on conference materials funded by the FDA. “The views expressed in written conference materials or publications and by speakers and moderators at HHS-sponsored conferences, do not necessarily reflect the official policies of the Department of Health and Human Services; nor does mention of trade names, commercial practices, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.” Questions and answers 1) Is there an incumbent or a vendor already working with FDA on this project? There is no incumbent vendor. There is a vendor working with the FDA on this project. 2) Will the contractor be responsible for identification of the workshop stakeholders? Yes. 3) Is this a public meeting or by invitation only? If it is a public meeting, how will the meeting be advertised/promoted? This is a public meeting. This meeting will be publicly advertised via direct mail, email, and the worldwide web (internet). 4) Will advertising in various journals be expected? No. If so, which ones? 5) Will the contractor be expected to do other marketing and outreach, e.g., flyers sent to various groups; email announcements; etc.? Yes. 6) How many people are expected to attend? 250-300 people. 7) How many people will have their travel and expenses supported? It is estimated that 10-15 invited speakers will have their travel expenses supported. Will they all be domestic? No, there may be several international (European) speakers as well. 8) How many days with the workshop be? This is a two-day conference. 9) What month are they targeting for holding this workshop? March or April 2009. 10) The announcement states that the location of the meeting is the "contractor's location." Does that mean a venue selected by the contractor? No, this conference will take place in Manhattan, New York City, N.Y. 11) How much research and development of materials will be conducted by the contractor prior to the workshop to prepare? For example, is it expected that information from all 396 clinical trials underway with cytokines will be collected and included in a briefing binder? No, the approved contractor will not have to conduct extensive research and development of related background information on the topic of this conference: cytokine clinical trials. 12) What are the expectations for the post-meeting document? For example, will the document only include a summary of comments and discussion from the forum or will it include a full set of priorities and objectives? A post-meeting proceedings will be prepared by the contractor to summarize and highlight key discussion points, conclusions and possible recommendations for future cytokine-related clinical trials. 13) Should we include costs for a transcript of the proceedings? Yes.
