- Description
- The U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Life Cycle Management Command (JM & L LCMC) has a requirement to purchase a Haas VF-1 Milling Machine. This machine includes 10,000RPM Spindle, Expanded Memory, 4th-Axis Drive and Writing for brushless-type rotary tables, Chip Conveyer, 40GB hard disk, Ethernet and USB interface, Look Ahead, Programmable Coolant Nozzle, Early Power Failure Detection Module, Spindle Orientation, Took Holder Vice, Visual Quick Code Programming, Dual Halogen External Lights, Storage Shelf, 3 Tool Trays, and MasterCAM. Phillips Corporation has developed the Haas VF-1 that is required to provide the capability to machine contoured parts on a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Mill. The equipment needed requires special protection for work in progress, in the event of a power failure. It also possesses ISO Standard G-code compatibility, advance control interface, rapid programming and advanced supportability. The Haas VF-1 system due to its innovative and unique design (to include feature set and advanced control system)is the only system which meets all aspects of the SOW. JM&L LCMC intends to award a sole source contract to Phillips Corporation, Hanover, MD, under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or service will satisfy agency requirements, and avoidance of unacceptable delay in fulfilling the agencys requirements. Phillips will deliver the equipment capable of meeting all of CNCs requirements (and immediate training) including but not limited to an important early power failure detection module. A determination of the Government not to compete this proposed effort based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government; however, responsible sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement or submit a proposal to albert.klobchar@us.army.mil no later than September 12, 2008. Award is anticipated 24 September, 2008.
