- Description
- The US Army Corps of Engineers is seeking sources for the construction project entitled, McNary Washington Fish Ladder Waterstop Upgrade. This will be a firm-fixed-price contract. Construction magnitude is between $25,000 and $100,000. This sources-sought announcement is a tool to identify qualified potential offerors and determine whether there are capable HUBZone or Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned small business firms who can accomplish the work. Please indicate your interest by submitting a statement of your firms capabilities addressing the experience, past performance history, technical requirements described above, including bonding capacity; and a statement of whether your firm is a certified HUBZone or Service Disabled Veteran-Owned small business to Jani Long, Contract Specialist, 201 North 3rd Avenue, Walla Walla, Washington 99362 or email your response to jani.c.long@usace.army.mil. Your response to this notice must be received on or before close of business on September 22, 2008. The purpose of this work is to re-establish a failed waterstop in the upstream Washington shore fish ladder. The failed waterstop is letting water into the fish ladder from the McNary pool which is resulting in hampering scheduled maintenance in the fish ladder. Work is to replace the leaking construction joint waterstop by: 1) using a diver to go under the fish ladder and install a backer rod to stop the water from coming into the fish ladder through the construction joint while the fish ladder is dewatered, 2) saw cutting a rectangular channel along the joint in the dewatered fish ladder, 3), fabricating a specified expanding urethane seal, 4) installing the seal in the precut rectangular channel, 5) then fabricating and installing with expanding stud anchors two steel plates over the new seal to hold it in place. The water in the dive area is under the concrete fish ladder and water depth is between 15 to 20 feet. Diving shall be performed in accordance with the latest edition of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual EM 385-1-1, Section 30, the Walla Walla District Diving Regulation NWWOM 385-1-15 and elements of the following references: 29 CFR 1910, Subpart T and the U.S. Navy Diving Manual, Volume 1 inclusive of all other references listed therein. The period of performance for the onsite work is January 5, 2009 to January 31, 2009. Contractor will be required to follow the procedures in the Army Corps of Engineers Safety Manual, which can be found online at http://www.hq.usace.army.mil. At the Headquarters homepage, select Safety and Occupational Health.
