- Description
- September 10, 2008 Directorate of Contracting SUBJECT: Questions & Answers Submitted in Reference to W9124L-08-T-001, Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) Active Radio Frequency Identification (aRFID) Tracking Systems, Fort Sill, OK The following Questions and Answers were received in response to subject RFQ. QUESTION: Reference Section C.1.1.3: Are samples of the types of standard reports, ad hoc reports and customized report expectations available? ANSWER: Report types are listed under C.1.1.1.1. Minimum content is listed and there is no restriction on how the report is presented other than it should be in a format that is easy to read and easy to read will be approved by the user before the report format will be considered acceptable under the terms of the contract. QUESTION: Reference Section C.1.1.8: What is the range of assets that require tags? Is there a definition or standardization of where and how the tags are to be placed on weapons or a list of the types of weapons that require tags to be permanently affixed? What is the definition permanently affixed? Are tamper resistant screws on removable grip acceptable or chemical adhesives sufficient? ANSWER: Contractor shall be prepared to place tags on all weapons from an M4 up to an MK19 and.50 CAL. Location is sufficiently defined but it is implied that the tag should not interfere with the operation of the weapon or the operation of the weapon interfere with the tag. Other items to be tagged include night vision goggles. The tags shall be permanently affixed without the use of screws, drilling, and holes. Nothing shall be affixed to the weapons that would change the existing integrity of the weapons make up. QUESTION: Reference Section C.1.2: What is the range (i.e. area of coverage) of the armories that translates into the six receivers and antenna requirement? Can you define the area of coverage in terms of size of controlled storage locations, number and size of access control points, or visibility distance from an antenna? ANSWER: There are multiple arms rooms in multiple companies throughout two separate brigades. One of the two separate brigade areas is approximately one square mile with multiple access areas, the other is 1/4 mile square with multiple access areas. Neither area is fenced or has controlled access points. Both areas are populated with multiple buildings ranging from one to three stories. QUESTION: If a technology exists that is Government approved that already works with small arms, can provide location, asset visibility and software will it qualify versus what appears to be UWB specific? ANSWER: UWB is mandatory for reasons outside the scope of this contract.
