- Description
- NASA/LaRC has a requirement for delivery of a gaseous mixture 63.5% to 64.5%ethylene with the balance methane. The minimum purity of source gases shall be 99.5% forethylene and 99% for methane. The mixture shall be delivered in cylinders equivalent toNational Specialty Gases' Size 200 (approx dimensions 9 inch dia x 56 inches tall w/cap,1.55 cubic feet actual vol.) with CGA 350 valve, with certified analysis of the contents. The mixture shall be supplied at 1500 psig. The tempearture of the gas cylinders shallbe maintained above 50 F from the time of mixing until delivered to NASA. Delivery shallbe made directly to NASA's storage facility if overnight temperatures drop below 50 F. The cylinders shall be suitable for warming to 120 F with industrial cylinder warmers. Deliveries are to be made by appointment as requested by the Government (by the end ofthe 10th workday following request). The expected quantity is 160 cylinders over a oneyear period of performance, with a minimum quantity of 100 and a maximum quantity of 200. Full gas cylinders shall be delivered in groups of 10. The Contractor shall supply atthe rate of up to 10 full bottles in a week. NASA will make spent cylinders availablefor refill as they are used. Cylinders will be returned to contractor with residual gasmixture at pressure between 50 psig and 800 psig. Deliveries shall be made to NASA LaRCBuilding 1206, during the hours of 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM Monday through Friday exceptGovernment holidays.The specifications and drawings are linked above or may be accessed athttp://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. ]This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are beingrequested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to usethe On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above orit may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. Theinformation required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred)no later than September 15, 2008. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this sitefor the release of amendments (if any).
