Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Augusta GA (VISN 7), is issuing a solicitation for transportation services for the 2009 National Veterans Golden Age Games being held in Birmingham AL, beginning May 31, 2009 through June 6, 2009. The VA Medical Center Birmingham will require drivers, buses, passenger vans and wheelchair accessible vans to transport approximately 975 passengers from the Birmingham International Airport to hotels listed in the solicitation within the downtown Birmingham area. The contractor shall provide transportation services to pick up participants on a regular basis from the hotels for event registration and opening ceremonies at the Birmingham Convention Center and return to hotels. From the Convention Center, participants shall be transported to and from event venues not held at the Convention Center, listed in the solicitation. These services shall be required May 31, 2009 through June 5, 2009, between the hours of 6:00 AM CST and 1:00 AM CST, and on June 6, 2009, provide transportation service for participants from the hotels to the Birmingham International Airport from 4:00 AM until 10:00 PM CST. Schedules shall be determined and established by the contractor upon receipt of participants flight schedule. Contractor shall furnish all vehicles necessary for this service. The contractor shall be responsible for ensuring all equipment is in good working order and is safe for passengers. The vehicles and equipment with which the contractor renders the services shall meet all State of Alabama (or equal) requirements for insurance, registration, and safety standards. The NAICS code for this procurement is 485991, with a size standard of $7.0 million. This procurement is 100% set aside for small businesses.
