Description
The US Army is considering the issue of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for procurement of AN/PED-1A Lightweight Laser Designator Rangefinder (LLDR), associated spare parts and maintenance. The LLDR system provides the U.S. Army with a man-portable target designator system with target location, day/night observations, video output, and digital data export capabilities. System performance requirements will be defined with a system performance specification document to be posted on this site. It is anticipated that a draft RFP will be issued on or about 25 September 2008, the RFP on or about 17 October 2008, with proposals due on or about 17 November 2008 and award approximately May 2009. The anticipated acquisition strategy for the award is as follows: full and open competition; there will be two (2) awards, each for a period of five (5) years; each award will consist of firm-fixed price production and spares on an indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity basis, and a maintenance and repair agreement. Offerors will be encouraged to propose enhancements, provided substantiating data for these enhancements are included in the offeror's proposal. Sample hardware will be required to support proposal submission. Award will be based on the best overall value to the Government. Total basic requirements are a minimum quantity of 100 and a maximum quantity of 2,000 systems. This is not a request for proposal and neither a proposal nor sample hardware are required at this time.. For additional information, contact Vicky Watkins, Contract Specialist, RDECOM Acquisition Center, (410) 278-1239. Potential offerors interested in the LLDR program are encouraged to monitor the US Army Single Face to Industry website for further program information.
