- Description
- The Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection intends to contract with Hornady Manufacturing Company, Grand Island, NE for AMAX TAP Ammunition (308 168 gr). The quantity will be 50,000 rounds. There will be an option quantity of 25,000 rounds also included in the subject contract. Sole Source Justification: The statutory authority for use of ‘other than full and open competition’ for this transaction is 41 USC 253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The OBP/Border Patrol Tactical Unit (BORTAC) supplies the ammunition to PM/O’s for all Sector SRT teams; there is no contract to purchase more PM/O ammunition at this time. As a Federal Law Enforcement agency it is our responsibility to insure the most up to date and effective tools are made available to Agents in the field. No other manufacturer produces a similar round that meets the standards and capabilities required by Border Patrol PM/O’s. The TAP round provides Border Patrol PM/Os operational effectiveness and insures the safety of the public. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and no formal solicitation package is available. However prospective contractors who believe they can successfully propose must provide specific detailed technical documentation to support such claims of abilities. No award will be made on the basis of any proposal or other information received in response to this notice, and this is a notification of intent to acquire supplies/services and not a request for proposals. The Government will not be responsible for any costs incurred in the preparation of responses to this announcement. This is the only notice that will be issued for these goods/services.
