- The U.S. Secret Service (USSS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with SIG Arms, Exeter, NH, for the purchase of Genuine SIG Arms required to service the SIG Sauer P229, P239 and P232 pistols currently in the USSS inventory. The USSS requires replacement weapons. The items required must be identical and consistent with the current inventory. As of this date the only manufacturer who can produce the above requirements that conforms to USSS specifications and is able to deliver with the specified time frame is SIG Arms. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 6.302 Circumstances Permitting Other Than Full and Open Competition. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement on a full and open competitive basis upon receipt of responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This is not a request for competitive quotes. Request to be considered must include a full capability statement and must be received no later than Thursday 25 September 2008 at 5 pm EST. **Questions must be emailed to Charles James at charles.james@usss.dhs.gov or David Dawson at david.dawson@usss.dhs.gov. The Government anticipates an award date on or about Friday September 26, 2008. The Government will not be responsible for any costs in preparation of responses to this announcement.
