- Notice of intent to award a sole source contract. The Government intends to issue a sole source purchase order to provide conference support services to the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel located at 1700 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202. The total value is $33,456.44. The services are needed to support the First Annual Hispanic Career Advancement Summit in the Washington, DC area. The purpose of the Summit is to focus on providing management insights, skills training and other career opportunities to help Hispanic, government employees maximize their potential. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination not to compete this proposed procurement was made because the Crystal Gateway Marriott had previously been awarded a contract by the Department of Defense (DoD) to host this event. The participating agencies have agreed to fund various portions of this Summit with DHS taking responsibility for reserving the breakout room space. DHS is responsible for the cost of the training/classrooms that will be provided by the Crystal Gateway Marriott. In order for this event to run smoothly, it is imperative that the classrooms be co-located within the Crystal Gateway Marriott so that attendees can easily transition from key-note lectures that will be held in a large auditorium/ballroom, to individual break-out sessions that will be held in various classrooms. Co-locating the classrooms will alleviate the inconvenience of having participants travel from building to building as the summit transitions from key-note lectures to break-out sessions. Because of the number of potential employees involved, and because DoD has contracted with Crystal Gateway Marriott for hotel room accommodations, DHS determined that providing classroom accommodations within the Crystal Gateway Marriott for the breakout sessions is the most efficient and cost effective option as it will decrease travel time and expense for the participants and the agencies involved.
