- Description
- The Government is conducting market research to gather information on capable and experienced companies that are interested in producing Lightweight Water Purifiers (LWPs) for the U.S. Army. The LWP is a lightweight and modular water purification system that is capable of producing potable water from any source at a rate of 125 gallons per hour (gph) from fresh water and 75 gph from salt water, weighs 2,000 pounds, and is transportable in a two-person cargo High Mobility Multi Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). The systems full set of technical specifications are outlined in a Technical Data Package (TDP), which is available on CD-ROM for interested participants. The Army intends to award a five year requirements-type contract for a quantity of 124 LWPs, with a potential for additional quantities to be added. If your company is capable of producing the LWP to the specifications of the TDP and if you would be interested in contracting with the Army to do so, please provide your responses to this Market Survey by October 10, 2008. There is no risk to you for participating in this survey. Also, we cannot compensate you for your participation. However, this is an important opportunity for you to influence the solicitation provisions and contract clauses, our budget requests, and the full range of other elements supporting the acquisition strategy for this program. We plan to make a production contract award by July 1, 2009. See the weblink stated below to view the LWP market research questionnaire. The questionnaire contains contact information to request a copy of the TDP and viewing information of a production model of the LWP at the TARDEC Water Treatment and Test Facility at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, MI on 22 October 2008. POC is Andrea Oehus at andrea.oehus@us.army.mil. Her phone numbers are: (586) 574-4169 and (586) 239-5933.
