- Rental of Excel Modular Scaffolding. Brand Name Mandatory. Estimated 39 weeks. FOB Destination, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth NH. The proposed requirement is to rent Excel Modular Scaffolding for the SSN700 that will supplement a significant amount of modular scaffolding equipment already owned by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (PNS). Modular scaffolding fits together quickly and can be adjusted to accommodate angles and adapted to other variations needed at the worksite. However, the way in which it fits together is peculiar from one manufacturer to another. Excel Modular Scaffolding cannot be mixed with another manufacturer, such as Bil-Jax, or vice versa. In order to support the increased amount of ship maintenance, PNS has re-opened dry-dock #1, which had not been used in recent years. More ships in dry-dock have created a need for more scaffolding. The shipyard's inventory does not meet the scaffolding requirements for the SSN700.
