Description

This is a sources sought announcement only for purposes of requesting information regarding the following items in addition to conducting market research. There is no solicitation available at this time. Request for a solicitation will not receive a response. This notice is posted to determine the existence of sources capable of performing as prime contractors on this requirement. The items provided will be utilized to retrofit an existing vehicle platform into a training version of the military’s Mine Resistant Armor Protected (MRAP) vehicle. The requirement entails providing the delivery of precision (High Definition Plasma or Plasma) pre-cut and\or pre-formed Cold-Rolled steel (sheet and tube) sub-assemblies. Material will meet ASTM requirements consistent with its intended use and supplied to factory locations in Victorville and Herlong, California and Gilmer, West Virginia. Lightly oiled, ten (10) gauge exposed steel is the primary raw material used. Welding and\or forming is involved during the factory manufacturing process. Delivery documentation requirements will include: •Certificate of Conformance (each shipment) •Chemical\Heat Analysis Report (each Shipment) •Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) on protective oil treatment (1st shipment only and when change occurs in the protective coating utilized) All items will be shipped in a strain-free condition Based on the following descriptions, it is requested that each interested source submit a response to this sources sought notice and provide a quote, lead time, industry ideas or suggestions, as to the manufacture of the type of item which is anticipated to be purchased. Please include in the request for information package your company name, point of contact, email address, phone number, and fax number. Please include a statement as to whether or not you are a small/large business and if your company is registered at the Central Contractors Registration website (www.ccr.gov) in addition to the ORCA website (orca.bpn.gov). Attached to this sources sought notice are referenced drawings which is proprietary to UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries. All interested business concerns shall submit their package to the attention of Joscie Barnes, Senior Contracting Officer, UNICOR, Federal Prison Industries, 400 First Street, NW, Washington, DC 20534. All responses to this notice shall be submitted to the Senior Contracting Officer not later than October 27, 2008. All submissions will be maintained on a source list and will be notified when a solicitation for the requirement will be issued.
