- Description
- The Government intends to procure under, only one responsible source and no other suppliers or service will satisfy agency requirements, the following item: 1. Algal Turf Scrubber (ATS) manufactured by Ecological Systems Technology a. ATS is a solar/algal technology that utilizes attached, primarily filamentous algae to capture nutrients (such as nitrates) from seawater. ATS performs point and non-point seawater cleaning services. ATS combines algal-produced oxygen at super-saturated levels with solar or artificial UV light, allowing organic compounds (such as nitrates) to be degraded to levels required in item c. below.b. The ATS removes nitrates in seawater and maintains nitrate concentration levels to 0.1 mg/L N03-N or less. c. ATS model is for 1,000 gallon aquarium capacity and is custom built. ATS capacity is 0.005 lbs/day N03-N @ 10 GPM MAX.d. Power required: 800 W single phase 60 hertz 120 volts for two 400 W UV lamps for each of the ATS units.e. ATS operation is 24 hours and 7 days a week with night operations by UV light and day operations by sunlight.f. Each ATS equipment foot print is approximately 3 feet by 2 feet 6 inches.g. There will be two ATS for each of two planned multi-purpose coral research tanks (total quantity is 4). Any alternate manufacturer able to meet the above requirements of the product are invited to submit complete information and specifications.
