Description
By way of this Notice and in accordance with the provisions of FAR 6.302-1, the Chicago District, US Army Corps of Engineers, announces its intentions to award a sole source contract to V3 Companies of Illinois, LTD. (V3) of 7325 Janes Avenue, Woodridge, Illinois, for the purpose of providing site restoration services. Under the contract, V3 will be primarily responsible for placing three different seeding mixtures, installing erosion control blankets (ECB), installing turf reinforcing mats (TRM) and planting the design mix of live plants. Two environmentally significant ravines exist in parallel locations north (Janes Ravine) and south (Hutchinson Ravine) of the project site. The Fort Sheridan Estuary Restoration Project, which is authorized by Section 104 of the Estuary Protection Act of 2000, is the final piece of constructing a swale/channel to divert storm water runoff away from these two ravines. The first part of the project was awarded by the Lake County Forest Preserve. The USACE portion of the project is critically linked to the work currently being performed by V3 under the aforementioned contract. The work being performed under this impending contract requires that the work be completed concurrently so that the project management of hydrological modifications does not further damage the project site. The period of performance is for approximately 1,444 calendar days. It is anticipated that the resultant contact will be a firm-fixed price service contract. This notice does not constitute a solicitation for offers, proposals, etc. STATEMENTS/RESPONSES TO THIS NOTICE MUST BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON DECEMBER 15, 2008. Statements should be sent to the attention of Anita Simpkins at anita.r.simpkins@usace.army.mil; ENSURE THAT THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR EMAIL INCLUDES THE TITLE/DESCRIPTION OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. Award is anticipated on or about December 26, 2008. This announcement is in accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(1). The point of contact is Anita Simpkins at (312) 846-5372.
