Description
The Department of Defense Project Manager Mobile Electric Power (PM MEP) is performing a market survey seeking additional sources for a valve regulated sealed lead acid, 24 Volt battery. The batteries must conform to drawing 98- 19745, except that they can be up to two inches higher. The battery must be available for a near-term procurement and must not be a developmental item. The battery may also be used for the follow-on 3 kilowatt (kW) Tactical Quiet Generator (TQG) procurement. The 3 kW TQG set is a lightweight, multi-purpose, ruggedized generator used to power a variety of end items, including command, control and communications equipment, computers, intelligence and surveillance equipment, radars, heaters and air conditioners, light sets and medical equipment. It is the set first developed by DOD with a variable speed engine directly coupled to a Permanent Magnet Alternator. The diesel engine is controlled with an electronic governor, which sets the speed between 3000 and 3600 rpm depending on the electrical load. The result are reduced noise level, lower fuel consumption, and longer engine life. This advanced generator set captures the latest electrical generating technologies from commercial industry in the areas of variable speed diesel engines, advanced alternators/power inverters and control systems. PM MEP requests interested parties submit their company name, address, phone number and point of contact, accompanied by product literature and information on their product to the address below.
