- Description
- CPSG has embarked on a secure voice cryptographic modernization (CM) program for the KY-57, KY-99A, KY-58, KY-100 and CV-3591/KYV-5 COMSEC products. CPSG plans to field a modernized version of this equipment that meets the National Security Agency (NSA) Central Security Service (CSS) Policy Number 3-9.The VINSON/ANDVT Cryptographic Modernization (VACM) Program Office is planning an approach to replace specific, stand-alone, secure voice cryptographic devices. The basic strategy involves the development of: A single NSA Type-1 certified crypto module that will be common to all VACM devices. This module will define the cryptographic boundary; as a result, only one NSA certification will be required. A single, new ground chassis which will be a crypto-modernized form/fit/functional replacement for the KY-57 and KY-99A. This single ground chassis must utilize the VACM crypto module and accommodate all existing interfaces (though not necessarily simultaneously) for both ground legacy devices. A single, new airborne chassis which will be a crypto-modernized form/fit/functional replacement for the KY-58, KY-100, and KYV-5/CV-3591. This single airborne chassis must utilize the VACM crypto module and accommodate all existing interfaces (though not necessarily simultaneously) for all three airborne legacy devices.
