- Description
- The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, Grand Prairie, Texas, intends to make a single award to a responsible quoter for the provision of Medical Assistant Services for the United States Penitentiary and Satellite Prison Camp Big Sandy located in Inez, Kentucky 41224. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 621399 (Size Standard: $7.0 million). The contractor shall be responsible for, but not limited to: Providing nursing care to include taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting PA's and physicians in clinical activities; Drawing blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes; Collecting and processing urinalysis; Operation of EKG machine; and other duties that are commercially standard in the market place for a Medical Assistant. The contractor’s performance shall be monitored by the Contract Monitor and the contractor must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds. The contractor shall have 2 years documented work experience as a Medical Assistant, or be a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, and must be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR). Finally, the contractor must also possess and maintain a current license, registration for the state of Kentucky, as well as medical liability insurance. It is estimated that the contractor will perform 1560 one hour sessions per year. The schedule will normally consist of of thirty (30) one (1) hour sessions per week, to be conducted Monday through Friday (except Federal Holidays) between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch break. The contract period will consist of a 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods for renewal. The solicitation will be available on or about December 11, 2008, and will be distributed solely through the website at www.fedbizopps.gov. All future information concerning the acquisition, including solicitation amendments will be distributed through the website. The anticipated date for receipt of quotes is December 31, 2008. The solicitation is restricted to small business sources. All responsible small business sources may submit a quotation which will be considered. Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations can submit offers/bids/quotations equally with other organizations for contract for which they are eligible. Please note: All contractors doing business with the Federal Government must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database. The website for registration is www.ccr.gov.
