- The MARINE CORPS SYSTEMS COMMAND (MCSC) Sources Sought Notice dated 3 Nov 2008, Solicitation Number M6785408R1011, is hereby deleted in its entirety and replaced with the following: MARKET RESEARCH/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENT EXISTS. Marine Corps System Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is conducting a market survey to determine the availability of a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), semi-automatic precision weapon system that is magazine-fed and capable of firing 7.62 x 51mm M118 Long Range (LR) ammunition. The rifle must be equipped with a suppressor and must be capable of mounting all night optics and aiming devices currently resident in the USMC inventory. The rifle must be equipped with a scope and must be capable of use with the M8541 Scout Sniper Day Scope (SSDS). Interested firms are invited to propose alternate day optics for the suggested system. Day optics must possess, at a minimum, the characteristics in Attachment 1, Section II. Commercial firms possessing the capability noted above are encouraged and invited to submit a statement of capability and pricing materials. This statement should address all elements listed in Attachment 1 and must also include the following:?Warranty provisions to support the proposed system?Corporate business size, including whether the company is 8(a) certified, disabled veteran-owned, veteran owned, woman owned, HUB Zone, Native American, or other Small Business Administration approved designations?Earliest feasible delivery date for the products to be delivered MARCORSYSCOM will use the results of this announcement to determine the capabilities that exist in the marketplace to fulfill the Government's requirement outlined above. This request for information (RFI) is for planning purposes only. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI and will not pay or provide reimbursement for any costs incurred in the preparation or delivery of the request for information. Interested firms are requested to submit a capability statement, not to exceed 10 pages, outlining their ability to meet or exceed this potential requirement no later than 2:00 PM EST, 25 Nov 2008. Electronic submissions are required. Interested sources should send all capability statements via email to Marian.beeman.ctr@usmc.mil.
