- You are cordially invited to attend the GSA / Lodging Industry Outreach Day on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 10:00 am to 12 noon at the General Services Administration's (GSA) office at 2200 Crystal Drive in Crystal City, Virginia. GSA’s vision is to acquire, either through the GSA Schedule 599-3 or through a full and open competition, an outsourced program that is easy to use, consumer market driven and provides the traveler with their preferred hotel choices, quality properties in the right locations, at a fair price and FEMA compliant. The model will be able to generate revenue to fund the required resources. It’s estimated that the Federal government consumes 22 million room nights per year although data is limited to transactions purchased with the SmartPay travel card. The FedRooms® brand and program have been in the market approximately three years. While the program provides proven benefits and over 6,500 participating hotels, it has been under utilized. The challenge and opportunity for the future is to increase utilization to capture savings and service benefits which will be discussed at this meeting.
