- This is a notice of our intent to prequalify Roofing Contractors for a reroofing project at the Fort Myers, FL P&DC. Prequalification statements will be evaluated by the Contracting Officer’s staff. Primary factors will be considered are: firm’s background, comparable experience, financial stability, capacity to perform, timely completion history, references, previous clients, bonding/banking capacity and safety. Applications will be evaluated by the USPS committee, and all Roofing Contractor’s will be advised in writing as to prequalification status. Roofing Contractor’s selected as being the most qualified will be placed on the prequalification list. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The work includes, but is not limited to, removing the existing modified bitumen roofing system, removing the existing single-ply EPDM membrane roofing system and removing the clay tile barrel roofing system; the complete removal of all the existing rigid board insulation down to the existing metal deck; the complete removal of all associated metal flashing; the replacement and the lowering of the height of the existing roof drains and the replacement of other items such as fascias, stucco and roof curbs etcetera; the wet sealing of all the clerestory windows throughout the entire facility; and painting of various exterior building elements will be required. The existing modified bitumen roofing system and the single-ply EPDM membrane roofing system shall be replaced by a DOE Energy Star Modified Bituminous Roofing System, new stainless steel flashing coping caps, stainless steel counter flashing, stainless steel expansion joint caps and miscellaneous stainless steel flashing. The new roofing system shall be engineered to meet the current Florida Building Code for roofing in a high wind load zone by a Florida registered engineer. The low-slope reroof area is approximately 295,000 square feet. The existing clay tile roofing system shall be replaced by an Aluminum Double-Lock Standing Seam Roofing System. The new Aluminum Double-Lock Standing Seam Roofing System shall be engineered to meet the current Florida Building Code for roofing in a high wind load zone by a Florida registered engineer. The steep-slope metal reroof area is approximately 13,000 square feet. It is of the upmost importance that the above work be completed without disruption of USPS operations and without water intrusion into the facility during the tear off and reroof process.
