Description
The Department of Defense (DoD) is considering a supply chain management contract that will provide innovative and responsive logistics support to our military customers for Federal Supply Classes (FSCs) 4710, 4720, 4730, 4820, 5330, 5331, 5930, 5935, 5961, 5962, and 6145. This initiative will capitalize on suppliers' and the Government's expertise, business practices, and ability to improve the logistics support process while increasing both supply availability and parts reliability. This will in turn translate into improved support to customers at a lower cost to the DoD. The intent is to award multiple contracts for the above FSCs or industry segments within those FSCs. To inform the business community of the initiative, the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC), located in Columbus, Ohio, will host an Industry Day on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. With the evolving mission needs of the war fighter, DSCC aims to improve support and readiness to our military customers. This complete solution will require that the contractor perform various responsibilities to include supply chain and inventory management, parts acquisition, distribution, warehousing, transportation, and material forecasting for various industry segments for the given FSC's. The resulting contracts will improve DLA's logistics response time and increase mission readiness at a cost comparable to traditional support methods. The Government contemplates that the term of the contracts will consist of a 4 year base period with two (3-year) option periods for a total of 10 years. During the conference, the overall project concept, goals, and objectives will be discussed in greater detail. Additionally, guidance will be provided to the small business community concerning opportunities for their participation. DLA is interested in receiving industry comments, questions, recommendations, and ideas regarding this initiative. Please send your questions/comments to the email address below by Friday, November 21, 2008, 12:00 PM EST with your company name and address, CAGE code and a primary point of contact to include telephone number and e-mail address. Additional information regarding this acquisition will be posted on the DSCC website, http://www.dscc.dla.mil/programs/FSCInitiatives/index.html. If you would like to attend this Industry Day, please RSVP by Friday, November 21, 2008 using the e-mail address: DSCC.Maritime.FSC@dla.mil.
