- THIS SYNOPSIS IS AN ADVANCE NOTICE FOR INFORMATION, MARKET RESEARCH AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY. IT IS NOT A SOLICITATION. NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. Potential Sources are being sought to provide a semi-ruggedized desktop computer. The unique characteristic is the "hybrid " computer requirement, which requires combining laptop portability with the large drive storage space and extreme graphics processing that only a desktop can contain within reasonable costs. Large hard drive is required because archived full motion video (FMV) needs to be stored on the computer, FMV takes up a lot of storage space. In order to stream FMV into the computer process mover characteristics in the video, and execute complex queries of characteristics in the video, a computer system takes significant graphics capability, much RAM, significant processor power, among other high end hardware requrements that a laptop cannot reasonably handle within cost constraints. This system must be portable, semi-ruggedized desktop with 2x Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz Processors, 4GB RAM, >2.5 TB total storage capacity, 1x Nvidia Quadro FX 3700 PCIe graphics card, integrated dual displays, and MS Windows XP Pro 32 bit. The sources sought synopsis is a notice for information and planning purposes only. It is not a presolicitation notice. Potential interested sources are required to respond to this notice no later than Nov 26, 2008. Firms interested should respond in writing to include company name, cage code, business size and classification (e.g. Small Disadvantaged Business, 8(a), Small Business etc.) and a point of contact ( to include phone number and email address). This synopsis neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government to a particular approach. This synopsis is to be used as a market research tool to determine the availability and adequacy of potential sources before using a Request for Proposal (RFP). Any information submitted by respondents to this synopsis is trictly voluntary. The Government shall not be liable for, or suffer any consequential damages for any proprietary information not properly identified. Proprietary information will be safeguarded in accordance with the applicable Government regualtions. All documentation shall become the property of the Government. The Government will not pay for any information that is submiitted by respondents to this sources sought request.
