Description
Modification: The original synopsis dated 10/22/2008 is modified to reflect a change from intent to award sole source to Bio-Rad Laboratories to a combined synopsis/solicitation for purchase of a Bio-Rad CFX384 Real-Time PCR Detection System. The Request for Quotation - DL836393 - is issued as Small Business Set-Aside/Brand Name Only. Brand name only for Bio-Rad Laboratories, Hercules, CA 94547. The Brand Name only justification is based on the following system features/requirements: The system will be used for PCR assays for measuring telomere lenghts. The assays use Tm-shifted primers that allow NIEHS to quantify telomere DNA relative to a single copy gene in a single tube SYBER assay at two temperatures. The specific design parameters of the system are as follows: 1) thermal gradient option of 24 degrees, 2) thermal block accuracy of 0.2 degrees with uniformity of 0.4 degrees within 10 seconds of reaching 90 degrees, 3) optical system for excitation and detection of up to 5 fluorescent types in a single well, 4) independent illumination and detection from each well using filtered LEDs for 9and 6 filtered photodiodes for detection, 5) dedicated channel for FRET experiments, 6) 96 channel reads in 12 seconds, 7) linear dynamic range of 10 orders of magnitude, 8) detects single copy target sequence of genomic DNA, 9) detection of <+ 10 fmol of fluorescein, and 10) can be upgraded to 384 well format. See attached RFQ # DL836393. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Dee Lunney via email lunney@niehs.nih.gov.*****
