- Description
- The Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Marine Operation Center has a requirement for dry-dock repairs to the NOAA ship FAIRWEATHER. The contractor shall provide all facilities, supervision, material, and labor necessary to perform modifications, repairs, and preservation to the NOAA ship FAIRWEATHER. The mooring and dry docking shall be accomplished at the contractor's facility. Performance of work is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 22, 2009and be completed no later than the end of March 25, 2009, with specific period of performance dates to be announced at the time of the issuance of the solicitation. This procurement is a 100% small business set-aside. The NAICS code for this procurement is 336611 and the size standard is 1,000 employees. The work consists of approximately 20 basic items, and 11 option items, any of which are subject to change at the Government's discretion upon issuance of the solicitation. BASIC REQUIREMENTS include, but are not limited to: General Requirements, Dry-docking, ABS Special Hull and Machinery Surveys, Inspection, Repair And Preservation of Ships Ground Tackle, Hull Preservation, Hatch And Scuttle, Replacement, Ventilation Inspect Clean and Repair, Tank Vent Repairs, Head and Shower Decks Resurface, Syntron Shaft Seals Renew, Marine Sanitation Device Repair, Oil Water Separator (OWS), Annual Maintenance, Sea Valve repairs, Vent Fans Overhaul, Launch Davit Annual Maintenance & Testing, Impressed Current Cathodic Protection System repairs, Miscellaneous Piping System Repairs, Tail Shaft Inspections, Potable Water Tanks Inspect and Preserve, Provide Utilities and Services. OPTION REQUIREMENTS include, but are not limited to: Sewage/Grey Water Drains, Modify, Hull Freeboard Preservation, Fantail Deck Non-Skid, Replace, E Deck Baxter Bolts Install, Multi Beam Sonar Transducers Clean and Repair, Sonar Self Noise Transducers Install, Ships Whistle, Modification, Weather Doors Replace, Bridge Fathometer Replace, Removal and Installation of Speed Log, Installation of Remote Temperature Sensor. General Vessel specifications: Length (LOA): 231 ft.; Breadth (molded): 42 ft.; Draft, Full Load: 14.5 ft.; Hull: Welded Steel; Displacement: 1800 Tons full load, tons displacement at 13 ft draft 1627. Propellers: two at 8ft-6" diameter, 2,400 HP main propulsion shaft horse power, 200 HP bow thruster. The vessel is anticipated to be made available for pre-bid inspection at its homeport in Seattle, WA from December 17-31, 2008. A pre-bid inspection can be arranged by contacting the Contract Specialist at the e-mail address provided below. Any resulting contract will be awarded as a firm-fixed price contract. Solicitation documents will be made available for download on or about December 11, 2009 at http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be issued. Interested parties should use the FedBizOpps ["Add To Watch list"] and ["Add Me To Interested Vendors"] features which provide a notification when the IFB becomes available for download as well as all postings of information associated with this solicitation, thereafter.
