Description
FISC-NNSY Maritime Industrial Branch, Hampton Roads Division, Contracting Department proposes to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for the solicitation and subsequent award of a firm-fixed price contract for services to inspect and repair six (6) each LHD propulsion propeller shaft sections in accordance with the requirements of NAVSEA S9243-AW-TRS-011/0203-086-501A and document findings in S9243-AW-TRS-011/0203-086-501A. Contractor must be capable of performing repairs in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-2191(SH) dtd 15 NOV 92 with ACN dtd 23 MAR 04. Painters assigned to the shaft work must hold a minimum qualification of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE 1). Weld procedures for any repairs must be approved by NAVSEA or Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Machine service facilities must be able to support a shaft with the following characteristics: Weight 50,000 lbs, Length 43 ft, Diameter 38 inches (max at coupling flange). Contractor shall all! ow for Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) Quality Assurance inspectors to perform inspections and signoffs as mandated. Services of the contractor are to include transportation, disassembly, inspection, repair, refurbishment, reassembly and required documentation of the waterborne main propulsion shafting sections of an LHD class ship. Complete specifications will be set forth in the written solicitation. Adherence to the following technical standards is mandatory:S9086-HM-STM-010/CH-243NAVSEA S9243-AW-TRS-011/0203-086-501ANAVSEA S9243-AW-TRS-012/0203-086-501AMIL-STD-2199(SH)MIL-STD-2191(SH) This requirement will be solicited and awarded under the regulations set forth in FAR Part 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. NAICS Code 332710 applies with a small business standard of 500 employees. The anticipated issue date for the RFQ is 8 December 2008. The date and time for receipt of offers shall be specified in the written solicitation. Requests for the solicitation will be accepted via email only to Stacie.osborne@navy.mil.
