- Description
- The Department of Homeland Security, Office of Intelligence and Operations Acquisition Division is conducting market research to find companies capable of providing Pathfinder (PF) Web-based Application Software Maintenance or an equivalent system. The description of the system currently in use is as follows: (1) Pathfinder is an integrated text search, retrieval, display, and analytic tool suite, providing intelligence analysts a set of text search and visualization tools with which to analyze large volumes of textual data. (2) The information in Pathfinder retrieved can be processed with a number of tools to index the data and categorize it into fields. The ingested records may be searched via keyword, query or field oriented mechanisms, the results of which may be viewed in a textual manner or fed into a number of visual applications or common file formats that can be imported into several analyst workstation based tools. (3) Utilities included within the PF Web application Pathfinder utilize the repository data in order to provide useful information to the analysts. PF web contains five tools that are delivered to the client as Java applets: Personal Information Manager (PIM)/Cameo, Pathfinder Map Viewer, Histogram, Timeline, and Teamwork. Teamwork uses "Comparison of Alternative Theses" to eliminate inadequate explanations for situations. This process allows users to develop a series of hypotheses about situations, collect data (evidence), and score the evidence for each thesis statement based on a scoring mechanism determined by the model owner. The PIM provides users with a method for storing records that support an analytical task. The PIM is a visual model that stores record links and metadata into icons. Links may be created between icons to provide users with a visual clue to the flow of information. Cameo provides a graphical representation of a query. Nodes may be configured to periodically query a data set and associate the results set with each defined node. If companies are interested, please submit a statement of your Pathfinder system or equivalent system capability. The statement is limited to two pages. The results of this sources sought notice will be used in helping determine an acquisition strategy. Please submit questions, suggestions or items for clarification to Karen A. Green via email at Karen.a.green@hq.dhs.gov.
