- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to contract on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) with High Precision Devices (HPD), 1668 Valtec Lane, Boulder, CO 80301, to provide a Rainer Model 103 Cryostat with service and valve stand configured from an existing NIST supplied adiabatic demagnetization unit to a compact "U" design. Sole source determination is based on HPD's specific experience to duplicate another system identical to three working units currently in place since at NIST. Based on historical performance, quality standards, and published prices, High Precision Devices, Inc. meets our mechanical, electrical, and technical requirements as well as meet the expedited delivery schedule. Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Boulder, CO, and is required within 4 months of receipt of order. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 423490 Other Professional Equipment and Supplies Merchant Wholesalers and the size standard is 100 employees. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. This synopsis is issued for information only. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received on or before (December 5, 2008), 01:00 PM Mountain Standard Time. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposal acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
