- Description
- 1. (Question) Does the Coast Guard own any load testing software tools? (Answer)NO, WE DO NOT HAVE ANY LOAD TESTING SOFTWARE AND/OR TOOLS. THIS WILL NEED TO BE LICENSED AND PROVIDED BY THE VENDOR. 2. (Question)It looks like the Coast Guard has in mind that this can all be done in 2 weeks? (Answer)I DON'T KNOW WHERE THE IDEA OF 2 WEEKS CAME FROM. IT DOESN'T STATE HOW LONG IN THE STATEMENT OF WORK. THE PREP WORK (INSTALLING THE LOAD TESTING SOFTWARE, TESTING, GETTING FAMILIAR WITH OUR PRODUCT, ETC.) WILL BE WHATEVER THE VENDOR DEEMS NECESSARY TO PREPARE THEM FOR THE ACTUAL LOAD TESTING. THE ACTUAL LOAD TESTING WILL BE DONE DURING ONE WEEKEND. 3. (Question) Is the total to be Tested at 500, 1,000 or 1,500? What is the official goal? (Answer)OUR GOAL IS TO LOAD TEST THE SYSTEM UNTIL IT BREAKS AND TO DETERMINE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF USERS THE SYSTEM WILL HANDLE. 4. (Question) There’s no description of the complexity and number of test cases. Depending on the complexity and size of the application the testing process could take 3 hours or 3 years; it’s impossible to say. Load testing is essentially executing on a test plan, and so a plan needs to be developed in order to come up with a cost estimate. I can do something ad-hoc, but I still need to know how users interact with the system. (Answer)OUR GOAL IS TO LOAD TEST THE SYSTEM UNTIL IT BREAKS AND TO DETERMINE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF USERS THE SYSTEM WILL HANDLE. THE TEST PLAN WILL BE DEVELOPED BY THE VENDOR. THE SYSTEM CURRENTLY HAS OVER 7000 ACTIVE USERS; HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY 400 OF THEM CONCURRENTLY ACCESS THE SYSTEM AT ANY ONE TIME. 5. (Question) Is the application accessible remotely, either over the open internet, or through a VPN? If so, the testing could be done remotely, and would thus be cheaper than having someone on-site. (Answer)FOR VENDOR PURPOSES, THE APPLICATION IS ONLY AVAILABLE HERE ON SITE.
