Description
65 – Endoscopic Surgery Tool This is a SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT. No proposals are being requested or accepted with this synopsis. This Sources Sought is for a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) item or an item that would require limited/minimal improvements. The Government is seeking information regarding capability and availability of potential contractors to supply an Endoscopic Surgery Tool that provides visual inspection, cutting and/or removal capability through a single access point. Technical Requirements: The Government is seeking companies that have developed and produced an endoscope that meets the following required minimum criteria: government off-the-shelf (GOTS) or COTS batteries capable of 4 hours of continuous operation; splash (moisture) resistant; non-conductive coating on the fiber optic/wire manipulator probe; 10” x 5” x 2” with a 24”, 180 degree articulating scope; weight less than 4 lbs; viewing screen resolution of 680 x 480 DPI; zoom focal range from 1” to 3’; wire cutters that can sever small electric wires; flexible wire manipulation tool; and light fiber in the manipulator probe for externally controlled addition of light. Other desirable requirements: GOTS or COTS batteries capable of 6 hours of continuous operation; 5” x 5” x 0.5” with an adjustable articulating scope length from 18 to 36 inches; weight less than 2 lbs; viewing screen resolution greater than 680 x 480 DPI; zoom focal range from 1” to 12’; wire cutters that can sever medium to large electric wires; and flexible wire diagnostic adaptor. The Government seeks the above described endoscope from worldwide sources, as well as any potential candidates in current Government programs (US or foreign). USSOCOM intends to review product literature, test data, and methodology used to support claims of ability to meet described criteria. USSOCOM may decide to acquire for testing purposes one or more vendor products that appear to meet or exceed the stated criteria. Based on the results of testing, the government may procure and field systems to meet military operational needs. Responses to this Sources Sought are due 2 Jan 09 and must include a product description with performance parameters and a statement regarding current availability, summary of prior testing, test reports, summary of logistic and maintenance requirements and an estimated cost for the price of test articles and production units. The NAICS for this effort is 334510, SIC 3845, FSC 6515, and the small business size standard is 500 employees. This announcement is a request for information only and is not a request for proposal or announcement of solicitation. The information provided in response to this announcement may result in the Government developing a Request for Proposal. Failure to participate in this sources sought will not preclude offerors from participating in any follow-on Request for Proposal.
