- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition intends to solicit on a sole source (FAR 13) basis with the Europaisches Laboratorium Fur Molekularbiologie Meyerhofstrasse 1, Heidelberg, Germany for services to demonstrate that a shared side-effect profile between drugs can be used to predict previously unknown drug targets and devise a computational measure for side-effect similarity. As the side-effects produced by the pharmaceutical entities with high potential for subsequent abuse are easily distinguishable, NIDA is interested in investigating whether the unambiguous curation of euphoria-related side-effects would be useful in identifying the new molecular targets not previously associated with the classical drugs of abuse. In the initial proof-of-principle study, the contractor will extract drug abuse-related side effects specifically from their symptoms library, and will analyze the feasibility of side effect similarity for target prediction of abusable drugs. This data is only known to exist with the ELMM. It is anticipated that the period of performance will be 8 months. Place of performance is Heidelberg, Germany. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NOI847915 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Bldg 31, Room 1B59, Bethesda, MD 20892-2080, and Attention: Susan Nsangou, Contracting Officer.
