- Description
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Ames Research Center isreleasing a Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) to solicit proposals to administer theEducation Associates Program (EAP). The EAP is a unique self-sustaining workforcedevelopment education program. The program provides a means for NASA scientists andmanagers to tap higher education institutions for students and faculty in a quickturn-around process. It provides participants hands-on experience with NASA scientists,engineers and program managers on a range of NASA projects and missions. Students receiveacademic credit for the experience. Through this program, NASA demonstrates itscommitment to attract students into NASAs education pipeline and providescompetency-building research and education opportunities for faculty, with a specialemphasis on those from underrepresented and underserved groups. The EAP will provideopportunities to students majoring in fields related to NASAs science and technologyinterests and to faculty in STEM disciplines. NASA will release a CAN on December 19, 2008, with proposals due on February 6, 2009.Selection is expected to be announced on February 23, 2009, with award anticipated onApril 1, 2009. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All eligible, responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by theagency. Institutions eligible to respond to this CAN are limited to higher educationinstitutions, nonprofit organizations, or consortia of organizations and institutionsserving higher education students. Partnerships within these institutions and/ororganizations are encouraged to apply.Upon its release date, this CAN will be available electronically throughhttp://nspires.nasaprs.com.This solicitation leading to the award of a Cooperative Agreement is issued pursuant totitle 14 CFR Part 1260 for educational and nonprofit institutions. Notwithstanding the posting of this opportunity at FedBizOpps.gov, Grants.gov, or at bothsites, NASA reserves the right to determine the appropriate award instrument for eachproposal selected pursuant to this announcement.
