Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD) is issuing a Request For Information (RFI) from all potential sources who are currently manufacturing TOTS valves or have existing TOTS valve manufacturing capabilities in accordance with Performance Specification MIL-PRF-32307 TYPE I WAFER Style, Seawater Service application. Please refer to the following link to obtain a copy of the referenced specification:http://assist.daps.dla.mil/quicksearch/ The U.S. Navy has a need for eight (8) TOTS valves (four 5" NPS and four 6" NPS) for the modernization of the eductor drainage systems on each DDG Class Ship. There are 23 DDG class ships currently scheduled for refit of high performance butterfly valves with TOTS valves. Further, there is the potential for refit on eight Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers (13 valves each) and twenty two AEGIS Cruisers (5 valves each). The service application is seawater, 150-170 psig. Further potential U.S. Navy shipboard uses of TOTS valves include fire main, seawater service, AFFF, fuel tank compensating, and chilled water Service. This RFI does not bind the Government to offer contracts to responding companies. The information provided will assist NSWCCD in the development and refinement of future procurement and acquisition strategies. Defense and commercial contractors, including small businesses, veteran-owned businesses, service-disabled veteran owned businesses, HUBZone small businesses, and woman-owned small businesses are encouraged to participate. Responses: Responses to this RFI should include supporting information that details experience, competence, and an overall understanding of the requirements that NSWCCD has identified. The following information is requested: 1) a description of the TOTS Valve product line currently sold; 2) details of the product line available including sizes, seat and connection styles, body materials, seat and seal ring materials; 3) documentation specifying all qualification testing, and in particular testing meeting MIL-PRF-32307, that has been accomplished for the TOTS valve product lines; 4) specifics on how current product meets the requirements of MIL-PRF-32307 Type I WAFER Style along with exceptions; and 5) past quantities of TOTS valves sold on a yearly basis. The NSWCCD Seawater Cooling and Combat Support Systems Branch (Code 9240) requests your responses no later than 20 February 2009. E-mail submissions should be sent to Mr. Scott Bohlander at: scott.bohlander@navy.mil and mailed submissions should be sent to the following address: Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD), Code 9240, 5001 South Broad Street, Building 4, Philadelphia, PA 19112-1403, Attn: Mr. Scott Bohlander and labeled as "RFI FOR DDG 51 CLASS TRIPLE OFFSET TORQUE SEATED VALVES MAIN DRAINAGE".
