- The Department of Veterans, VA Boston Healthcare System, has a requirement for Spirometers CSP #560 in their Jamaica Plain Campus located at: VA Boston Healthcare System Jamaica Plain Campus 150 South Huntington Avenue Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Phone: 617-232-9500 I. DEFINITIONS/ACRONYMS A. Contracting Officer (CO):The individual with the authority to enter into, administer, and/or terminate contracts. The CO is the exclusive Government official authorized to execute changes and deviations or variations in the contract. B.Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR): A Government representative, designated in writing by the Contracting Officer, to be responsible for quality assurance, inspection, surveillance, documentation and acceptance of the Contractor's performance. A copy of the letter of designation will be provided to the Contractor. C.COPD: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. D.ATS: American Thoracic Society. E.GOLD: Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease. II. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT A spirometer is a device used for measuring the volume of air inspired and expired by the lungs. It is a precision differential pressure transducer for the measurement of respiration flow rates. The spirometer records the amount of air and the rate of the air that is breathed in and out over a specified time. Spirometry is the most common pulmonary function tests. The spirometer will be used to confirm COPD, to determine whether a participant is eligible to be enrolled into Cooperative Studies Program #560 - Bronchitis and Emphysema Advice and Training to Reduce Hospitalization, and to assess disease severity based on the Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) criteria. Spirometry should be performed with a hand held spirometer. This instrument must meet current ATS guidelines for accuracy and reliability. We are in need of a portable hand held spirometer that comes with a printer, external cables for printer (if available) and a charger.
