- Westinghouse Anniston (WA) is soliciting the services of a qualified contractor to provide labor and equipment, including scaffolding, necessary to clean the interior of the DFS Blast Attenuation Duct. WA will supply new bolts, nuts, a calibrated torque wrench, and gaskets. 1. Construct scaffolding to access expansion joint BE-4. Install decking on steel to provide work area. Install plywood on upper steel to deflect any falling objects. WA Safety to approve scaffolding prior to use. 2. Install plastic around work platform to contain ash. Install barricades to limit personnel access. 3. Remove the metal cladding and insulation at the expansion joint and save for re-use. 4. Set up rigging per approved rigging plan to remove the 44" expansion joint (BE-4) at the exhaust of the Blast Attenuation Duct (DFS-BLAD-101). Reference drawing 42-525-094. Weight of expansion joint is 775 lbs. A crane may be used or rig to the existing structural steel in order to remove BE-4. 5. Assure area around and under duct is protected from dust that may be released during removal of joint and cleaning of interior of duct. 6. Remove expansion joint BE-4 from duct. Set joint aside for reinstallation. 7. Position vacuum system (truck/roll-off) and proceed to remove dust and debris from duct and BLAD. 8. Clean debris and incinerator ash from the interior of the DFS Exhaust Duct between the KILN and the Cyclone. This duct is constructed from high temperature steel with insulation on the outside of the duct. Only metal surfaces are exposed on the interior of the duct. 9. Duct interior will be accessible from the Kiln feed end inside the DFS room after the kicker chute is removed and ash debris is removed from the kiln. The duct will be accessible from the outside of the MDB after the expansion joint at the BLAD is removed. It is expected that the ash, which is primarily light dust from burnt cardboard MCCs, will be removed from the duct interior with a commercial vacuum system. Some manual agitation or scraping may be required to loosen any caked material. Duct will be considered clean when bare metal is exposed with no residue thicker than.25 inches remaining in any area. 10. All residue removed from duct will be handled and disposed by WA waste management. 11. At the completion of the DFS Exhaust Duct debris removal, reinstall expansion joint BE-4; Install using new bolts, nuts and gaskets. A calibrated torque wrench will be provided by WA Maintenance. 12. Replace all insulation removed and re-install all metal cladding that was removed. 13. Remove scaffolding and decking. 14. Clean work area, remove all plastic used and dispose of IAW the latest revision to Waste Management Procedure WAS 3.02. Material requirements, to be supplied by WA WA# 12399, 8 EACH, GASKET, 0.125 IN THK FIBERFRAX 970J, DFS - DUCT FROM KILN TO BLAD, THIS "EACH" IS ACTUALLY A 97.2 DEGREE CHORD SECTION OF GASKET. IT TAKES 4 CHORD SECTIONS FOR A COMPLETE GASKET, BOLT HOLES BY FIELD WA# 14521, 36 EACH, CAP SCREW, HEX HEAD, 3/4 IN-10 x 2-1/2 IN, 310 STAINLESS WA# 14522, 36 EACH, NUT, HEX, 3/4 IN-10, 310 STAINLESS, USED ON DFS DUCT JOINTS WA# 14519, 40 EACH, CAP SCREW, HEX HEAD, 1-1/2 IN-6 x 4 IN, 310 STAINLESS WA# 14520, 40 EACH, NUT, HEX, 1-1/2 IN-6, 310 STAINLESS WA05354, 1 CAN, THREAD COMPOUND, NICKEL ANTI-SEIZE
