Description
This is a modification to a previous Request For Information. Technical POC: Dr. Bob Simpson, phone: (937) 255-3802 ext. 3475 e-mail: afrlryDX@wpafb.af.mill, Mail address: AFRL/RYD Attn: Dr. Bob Simpson 2241 Avionics Circle, Wright-Patterson AFB OH 45433. Due date of RFI attached to original synopsis being corrected. Original Description This is a Request for Information (RFI) and not a solicitation. The Government is interested in obtaining information concerning Metamaterials technology for Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) applications. Metamaterials are artificially structured material composites that have been engineered to alter their electromagnetic characteristics, such as index of refraction, or electric and magnetic polarization. These tools, if fully realized, point toward great increases in capability for both RF and optical applications, such as smaller antennas at reduced weight with additional functional bandwidth. Presently, metamaterials and associated technologies are pursued primarily at the basic research level because of the extensive scientific understanding required to utilize their unique properties in practical applications. Possible applications include RF antennas, filters, circulators, and frequency selective surfaces, Optical / IR beam steering, compact optical systems, mirrors, optical circuitry, interconnects, filters and limiters. Technical POC: Dr. Bob Simpson, phone: (937) 255-3802 ext. 3475 e-mail: afrlryDX@wpafb.af.mill, Mail address: AFRL/RYD Attn: Dr. Bob Simpson 2241 Avionics Circle, Wright-Patterson AFB OH 45433.
