- Description
- Invitation to the USAID Education Strategy Virtual Discussion What:USAID Education Strategy Development Education Sector Council via Strategy Planning Committee’s Virtual Discussions Venue: Global Learning Portal (GLP) (http://www.glp.net ) Dates: January 26 - February 13, 2009 Background: USAID has initiated a major exercise to review and update the sector strategy and operational guidelines for assistance in Education. The new strategy will address trends, issues, and opportunities in three subsectors -- basic education, higher education, and workforce development, as well as the conceptual and programmatic linkages among these sub-sectors. The strategy exercise is composed of four phases: research and discussion; subsector strategy development; sector strategy development; and publication and dissemination. Purpose of Online Discussions: As part of phase one, the USAID strategy team is developing a series of papers which address the context for education, lessons learned in providing assistance, and salient issues impacting progress in the sector. USAID seeks your expertise and experience in reflecting on questions emanating from this research. In turn, the results of the online deliberations will serve as the groundwork for developing the various pieces of the education strategy. Next Steps: USAID will engage in a series of online discussion forums, moderated by the authors of the strategy series. Attached is a series schedule; once introduced, a topic will remain open for the duration of the two-week discussion period. The instruction to register and get onto GLP is attached. The website will be available January 23 for you to register and obtain documents. We encourage all USAID partners / staff to contribute to these discussions in order to better inform our strategic planning process. Please take a minute to invite relevant staff in your organization and schedule their involvement in these discussions. Questions: Contact Sarah Auten at Aguirre Division of JBS International, Inc.
